10 Steps to Organize
  1. Tidy up your desk or work area each night before leaving office or home office. It will allow you to begin each workday on a positive note.

  2. Plan your errands that you will run rather than doing them impulsively. No wasted time driving around to places, which may be closed or might not have your dry cleaning done. Do as many as errands as possible in one shot.

  3. Hire someone else to do your yard, housework or other routine home chores that you don't enjoy doing. You can devote your new spare time to family and friends.

  4. Give yourself permission to relax and goof off a bit. But do this with the intention that you can relax completely. When we drift into periods of half- working, half-resting we become inefficient.

  5. Utilize timers for projects. If you have to clean out your closet but are dreading it set the kitchen timer for 30 minutes. Tell yourself that you will work on this for that allotted time and when it's over you can stop.

  6. Keep a small plastic bin in your vehicle. When you car starts getting cluttered fill up the bin with all the random stuff. Then bring it in the house and empty the bin out. Your car is clean and so is your house.

  7. Plan out your meals before you grocery shop. There will be no wasted time at the grocery store wondering what to buy and meals will be more nutritious because there won't be any impulsive choices.

  8. Sleep at night. We often skimp on our sleep to get just one more thing done before bed. But it catches up to us the next day when we miss workouts and are unable to perform well because of our missed sleep time.

  9. Use just one calendar. Many of us have a work, personal, and a family calendar. This just leads to confusion and double booking. Use one calendar for everything and you won't have to guess if you have an appt next Tuesday at 7.

  10. Purge items before you go out to buy more filing cabinets, plastic containers, and hangars. Cleaning out excess will leave you with room that you didn't know you had.
